Bordeaux relegated to French third tier after withdrawing appeal

The club, which last won the top division title in 2009, faced sanctions from the DNCG on July 9 for needing to secure 40 million euros to rectify their financial situation.

Despite recent discussions with Liverpool's owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), falling through, Bordeaux confirmed their withdrawal from the appeal process.

Consequently, they have accepted the administrative relegation to National 1 for the 2024/2025 season and will need to submit their financial plans to the DNCG once again.

Bordeaux emphasized their commitment to safeguarding the club's interests and reassured fans and stakeholders of their dedication.

This decision marks a significant setback for Bordeaux, a club with a rich history that has not competed in the third division since turning professional in the 1930s.

The upcoming National season commences on August 16, with Bordeaux set to play at their Matmut Atlantique stadium, which boasts a capacity of 42,000 spectators, making it the sixth-largest stadium in France.
