Borussia Dortmund 4-2 Atletico Madrid (Agg: 5-4): Sabitzer stars as Dortmund win six-goal thriller to reach Champions League semi-finals

Borussia Dortmund secured a spot in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals with a 4-2 victory in a dramatic match, marking their first appearance in the semis since finishing as runners-up in 2013 under Jürgen Klopp. They triumphed over Atlético Madrid in the quarter-finals with an aggregate score of 5-4.
In the opening minutes of the match, both teams had opportunities to take the lead. Dortmund's Ian Maatsen set up Marcel Sabitzer for a chance, but César Azpilicueta managed to block the shot.
Shortly after, Antoine Griezmann provided a pass to Álvaro Morata, who missed a delicate chip wide.
Despite the home side having more possession and chances, they struggled to test Oblak until the 33rd minute.
Mats Hummels delivered a brilliant pass to Julian Brandt, who scored from a tight angle. Dortmund extended their lead six minutes later when Sabitzer and Maatsen combined again, resulting in a goal.
At the start of the second half, Atletico Madrid responded quickly with a goal from Mario Hermoso. Ángel Correa missed a chance to equalize, but later scored off a rebound.
Just as the visitors seemed to have control of the game, Dortmund responded and regained the lead in the second leg.
Atleti left Sabitzer unmarked on the left side, allowing him to deliver a perfect cross for Niclas Füllkrug to score with a header past Oblak. Following suit from the first half, BVB quickly added another goal in this exciting match.
A deflected long ball fell to Füllkrug, whose shot was blocked, but Sabitzer was quick to react to the rebound, taking it in stride and slotting it into the bottom corner.
Despite some impressive saves from Oblak towards the end, the Spanish team couldn't turn the game around and suffered their eighth defeat in Germany out of their last 11 visits.
Playing at home was crucial for Edin Terzić’s team, who secured their ninth European victory after losing the first leg away.
