Bournemouth 0-4 Liverpool: Jota and Nunez score two each as Reds sweep past hosts

Liverpool continued their winning streak with a resounding 4-0 triumph over Bournemouth, further cementing their position at the top of the Premier League table.

This victory marks their fifth consecutive win across all competitions and extends their dominance over the Cherries, having emerged victorious in nine out of their last ten league encounters.

The conditions on the south coast, with swirling wind and rain, made it clear that this match would not be considered a potential Premier League classic. In the early stages, both teams were only probing for an opening goal, resulting in a lackluster first half.

Throughout the entirety of the first half, neither team's efforts translated into clear goal-scoring opportunities. The only notable incident was a controversial decision by the officials, which understandably angered Jurgen Klopp. Remembering Curtis Jones' red card earlier in the season, Klopp was furious when he saw Justin Kluivert's similar challenge on Luis Diaz go unpunished.

As the first half came to a close, there was a cautious sense of optimism that the second half would be more exciting. This hope was quickly fulfilled when a goal was scored within five minutes of the restart.

Despite facing recent criticism, Darwin Nunez continued to work hard and was rewarded with a fantastic team goal from the edge of the area. Bournemouth's response, on the other hand, was rather muted.

And the Cherries were left helpless as the game slipped away from their grasp with 20 minutes remaining, as Diogo Jota found the back of the net at the near post.

With this victory, Liverpool's unbeaten streak in the Premier League continued, marking Jota's 26th win in 31 games with a goal. However, Jota was not satisfied with just one goal and quickly added another to his tally for the evening.

After an initial missed attempt, Mohamed Salah's substitute for the day managed to score a goal, placing the ball into the far corner and completing a flawless afternoon for the Reds.

Adding to the perfection of the day, Nunez also secured his brace in stoppage time, adding an extra touch of flair to the victory. This win propelled Liverpool five points clear at the top of the table, while keeping Manchester City at a distance for now.

On the other hand, Bournemouth finds themselves in a comfortable mid-table position, far from the relegation zone but still a considerable distance away from the European spots.
