Brazil held to goalless draw by Costa Rica at Copa America

Brazil, the nine-time Copa America champions and runners-up in 2021, were unable to secure a victory in their opening match against Costa Rica.
Despite their dominance in possession and numerous scoring opportunities, Dorival Junior's team failed to find the back of the net and had to settle for a draw.
Throughout the match, Brazil displayed their superiority, with Raphinha and Rodrygo coming close to scoring early on. However, Costa Rican goalkeeper Patrick Sequeira made some impressive saves to deny them.
It seemed inevitable that Brazil would break the deadlock, but their efforts were thwarted by VAR, which ruled out Marquinhos' goal due to an offside position.
In the second half, Brazil continued to dominate the game, with Lucas Paqueta's powerful shot hitting the post. As time ran out, Dorival Junior made substitutions, bringing on Endrick and Savio in search of a breakthrough. However, despite their dominance and 18 shots on goal compared to Costa Rica's three, Brazil had to settle for a frustrating draw.
This result leaves Brazil with the challenge of regrouping for their upcoming match against Paraguay, who suffered a 2-1 defeat against Colombia earlier in the tournament.
In the meantime, Costa Rica has yet to secure a win against Selecao in 84 years. Nevertheless, they will consider themselves fortunate to leave California with a draw, as they were outperformed by Seleaao. However, they will face Colombia in Glendale on Friday with a revitalized sense of assurance.
