Brazil to host first-ever NFL game in South America on opening weekend of season

Brazil is set to be the host country for the match between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers on September 6, marking the beginning of the new NFL season, as announced by the league on Wednesday.
The upcoming clash between the Packers and the Eagles at the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo marks a significant milestone for the NFL. It will not only be the first NFL game ever held in South America but also the first Week One game to take place on a Friday evening since 1970.
Packers CEO Mark Murphy expressed his enthusiasm for this historic matchup against the Eagles in Sao Paolo. He emphasized the team's excitement to play in front of their dedicated fans in Brazil and contribute to the growing international popularity of the NFL and the Packers.
In previous years, the Eagles had the privilege of being the designated home team for a fixture held at London's Wembley Stadium in 2018, where they faced the Jacksonville Jaguars. Similarly, the Packers had a memorable encounter with the New York Giants at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2022.
The NFL has been actively expanding its reach beyond the United States, regularly hosting regular season games in London and Germany. In a recent development, clubs have approved an increase in international games from four to eight in 2025, with Madrid also slated to host one of these games.
