Brazilian FA to resume championship matches in June

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced on Tuesday that the Brazilian Championship will resume in early June, following the suspension of matches due to severe floods in Rio Grande do Sul.
The heavy rains that have been ongoing since late April have caused significant damage and loss of life, with over 160 people dead and nearly 100 still missing. More than 500,000 residents have been displaced as a result.
The matches involving the three teams from Rio Grande do Sul had already been postponed until May 27th due to the flood damage, which affected stadiums, training centers, and airports.
Subsequently, the seventh and eighth rounds of the championship were also postponed, with the CBF consulting all 20 clubs of the Brasileirao.
The competition is now scheduled to resume on June 1st, with the participation of the teams from Rio Grande do Sul. However, due to the damage caused by the flooding, Gremio will face Bragantino in Curitiba, located in the state of Parana, as their Porto Alegre arena is currently unusable. Internacional and Juventude will also play away games in the seventh round.
In the eighth round, Internacional will play at Criciuma, outside of Porto Alegre, while Juventude will play in Caxias do Sul, their home state.
A meeting of the technical council of Brazil's top division will be held next week to discuss the final details of the championship.
