Brentford 2-2 Chelsea: Late Axel Disasi header rescues points for Blues in West London derby

Axel Disasi's 83rd minute header salvaged a draw for Chelsea, as Brentford put an end to a series of three back-to-back league losses, resulting in a 2-2 draw in an exhilarating Premier League showdown.

After a thrilling FA Cup triumph over Leeds United, Chelsea aimed to secure consecutive victories for the third time this year.

The Blues started off strongly, dominating possession in the early stages of the match at the Gtech Community Stadium.

However, it was Yoane Wissa of Brentford who had the first major chance of the game, but he struck the ball straight at Dorde Petrovic from close range.

Chelsea, who had won their previous four London derbies, were determined to continue their winning streak. They took a significant step towards that goal just before halftime when Nicolas Jackson rose above Zanka and headed in Malo Gusto's cross, scoring his first league goal since mid-December.

Nevertheless, Brentford quickly found their footing in the game after the restart and equalized through Mads Roerslev, who rifled in a rebound inside the left post.

Mauricio Pochettino's team has often faced criticism for their ability to withstand pressure, which their opponents clearly tried to exploit. This was evident when Vitaly Janelt's low shot hit the post minutes later.

Eventually, the momentum shifted back in favor of the visitors, and Chelsea had a golden opportunity to take the lead when Gusto found Palmer, but he missed the target.

Yoane Wissa was quick to react to a loose ball, skillfully volleying it past Petrovic to give the Bees the lead, leaving the game wide open.

Sergio Reguilon failed to secure a comfortable lead for his team, hitting the post with a header, which allowed the Blues to equalize when Axel Disasi scored from Cole Palmer's cross after a short corner.

Despite Chelsea's vulnerable defense, they managed to avoid further damage, still in search of their first clean sheet in an away league match this season.

Consequently, Chelsea missed the opportunity to climb back into the top half of the table, as their league campaign seems to be fading once more.

On the other hand, despite earning a hard-fought point, Brentford's poor run of form with only two wins in their last 13 league games (1 draw, 10 losses) puts them in a precarious position, just six points ahead of 18th-placed Luton Town.
