Brentford sinks wasteful Chelsea at the Bridge

In an unprecedented triumph, Brentford clinched a 2-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, marking their third consecutive victory at the venue, a record in the club's history.

During the first half, Chelsea took charge of the game, nearly scoring through Noni Madueke's close attempt that hit the crossbar just ten minutes in. Cole Palmer orchestrated plays, setting up chances for Marc Cucurella, who couldn't convert, and Raheem Sterling, whose shot missed the mark. Brentford's Bryan Mbuemo also had a significant opportunity, saved by Robert Sanchez.

The second half commenced with an unusual incident involving Neal Maupay, who received a booking for entering the pitch and disrupting a free-kick about to be taken by Palmer.

Shortly after, Brentford broke the deadlock when Mbuemo's cross met Ethan Pinnock, securing his first goal of the season with a header at the far post.

Tensions rose further as Chelsea's assistant manager, Jesus Perez, was ejected from the game. Although Brentford almost extended their lead on a counter-attack, Sanchez's save denied Mbuemo's subsequent shot.

In the dying moments of stoppage time, Sanchez's venture up for a corner left the goal unguarded, enabling Mbuemo to seal the victory by tapping the ball into an empty net. The defeat for Chelsea accentuated their struggle at home, having won only one of their last 13 Premier League games on their turf.

Meanwhile, Thomas Frank's Brentford surged into the top half of the table after securing consecutive victories, ending a six-match winless streak in the league.
