Brock Purdy throws for a career-high 368 yards and Deebo Samuel scores two TDs as the 49ers defeat the Seahawks 28-16.

Deebo Samuel had a 54-yard touchdown reception and also rushed for a score as the San Francisco 49ers defeated NFC West rival Seattle Seahawks 28-16 on Sunday afternoon in Santa Clara, Calif.

Christian McCaffrey rushed 16 times for 145 yards as the 49ers (10-3) won their fifth game in a row. Brock Purdy completed 19 of 27 passes for 368 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

The Seahawks (6-7), who lost their fourth game in a row, were without starting quarterback Geno Smith, who injured his groin in practice Thursday. Drew Lock took over for Smith and went 22 of 31 for 269 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Lock was sacked four times.

The 49ers appeared to be on their way to another lopsided victory after McCaffrey took a pitch to the left, cut back down the middle, and rushed for 72 yards on the game's first play from scrimmage.

On the next play, Jordan Mason scored on a 3-yard run to put San Francisco up 7-0.

On their first possession, the Seahawks responded with a 31-yard touchdown pass from Lock to DK Metcalf.

Jason Myers' 40-yard field goal with 56 seconds left in the first quarter gave the Seahawks a 10-7 lead.

The 49ers scored the only points of the second quarter, a 54-yard pass from Purdy to Samuel on a third-and-11 play, to lead 14-10 at halftime.

Samuel scored on a 1-yard run with 1:58 left in the third quarter to give the 49ers a 21-10 lead. He had seven receptions for 149 yards.

Lock hit tight end Colby Parkinson for a 25-yard touchdown pass with 24 seconds remaining in the quarter, but he was sacked on the two-point conversion attempt, leaving the score at 21-16.

Purdy's 44-yard touchdown pass to George Kittle with 14:08 remaining extended the 49ers' lead in just three plays.
