Buffalo Bills safety Micah Hyde announces retirement

Buffalo Bills All-Pro safety Micah Hyde (34) announced his retirement on Tuesday, concluding a distinguished 12-year career in the NFL.

Similar to fellow retiree Mason Crosby (40), Hyde did not participate in the 2024 season due to a lack of contract offers from any team. Nevertheless, prior to his retirement, Hyde served as a practice squad mentor for the Bills during the past season.

"We have always felt a strong connection to this place," Hyde remarked upon his return to the Bills two months ago. "The positive response from the community regarding our signing back here is truly remarkable."

Hyde was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft, where he played for four seasons (2013-2016) before experiencing significant success with the Bills starting in his first year with the franchise. His career truly flourished in Buffalo.

In his inaugural season with the Bills (2017), Hyde earned a spot on the AP Second Team All-Pro roster, a recognition he received again in 2021, both years in which he recorded a career-high of five interceptions.

Over the course of 12 years, including 11 years of active play, Hyde concluded his career with one Pro Bowl selection, 24 interceptions, 66 pass deflections, five forced fumbles, five sacks, 644 tackles, and 18 tackles for loss.
