Buffaloes Stage a Spectacular Comeback in Climax Series Opener

In a thrilling Pacific League Climax Series Game 1, Kotaro Kurebayashi's clutch performance led the Orix Buffaloes to a remarkable 8-5 victory over the Lotte Marines, cementing their 2-0 series lead.
The Buffaloes, who entered the series with a one-win advantage as the league champions, rallied from an early deficit to claim the victory.
The Marines, who finished the regular season in second place, came out strong, taking a 3-0 lead in the first inning against Orix's ace, Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Gregory Polanco's double drove in two runs, and a crucial moment occurred when Orix narrowly missed an inning-ending double play on Koki Yamaguchi's grounder, allowing Polanco to score.
Kurebayashi played a pivotal role in Orix's comeback, doubling in two runs in the fourth inning, which tied the game at 4. He continued his heroics by singling in the go-ahead run in a remarkable four-run sixth inning at Kyocera Dome Osaka.
Despite some challenges, Yamamoto persevered through seven innings, surrendering five runs on 10 hits and striking out nine in an impressive 116-pitch performance.
In the Central League Climax Series, Shoki Murakami delivered a stellar six-inning performance, allowing only one run and contributing to the offense with a tiebreaking double. This propelled the Hanshin Tigers to a 4-1 victory over the Hiroshima Carp in Game 1 of the final stage.
The CL champion Tigers secured a 2-0 series lead against the second-place Carp.
