Burnley 0-2 Liverpool: Nunez ends goal drought as Reds go top

Darwin Nunez's first league goal in nearly two months helped Liverpool return to the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over struggling Burnley on Tuesday.
After six minutes, Nunez's precise finish gave Liverpool a flying start at Turf Moor, but Jurgen Klopp's side were unable to kill off the hosts as the second goal failed to arrive.
As Burnley clung on, Mohamed Salah was denied by the crossbar, and both Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott had goals disallowed, but Diogo Jota's 90th-minute effort sealed the points.
Nineteenth-placed Burnley had chances of their own in the second half, nearly equalizing when Jacob Bruun Larsen's shot went agonizingly wide of the post.
Liverpool's first league win in three games lifted them above Arsenal at the halfway point of the season, with 42 points. Arsenal will host West Ham United on Thursday.
After a sweeping move, substitute Jota fired in from a tight angle for his 50th Liverpool goal, as the points should have been long in the bag.
