CAF Awards 2024: Emerse Faé wins Men’s Coach of the Year

Emerse Faé, head coach of the Ivorian national team, has been crowned Men’s Coach of the Year at the 2024 CAF Awards following his exceptional leadership during Côte d’Ivoire’s triumphant campaign at the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023.
A Triumph for Côte d’Ivoire
Faé took charge as interim coach during a challenging period following the resignation of Jean-Louis Gasset during the 34th TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Against all odds, Faé united the team and led them to a triumphant final, securing the title on February 11, 2024, in front of their passionate fans in Abidjan.
Reflecting on this momentous achievement, Faé remarked:

“My goal is to create the most talented generation in the country's history. Winning AFCON is just the beginning; we aim to remain a dominant force in African football and compete on the global stage.”
His coaching philosophy combines tactical discipline, teamwork, and player development, drawing from his experience as a former midfielder to inspire the next generation.
During his acceptance speech, Faé expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Ivorian football community:
“This award means a lot to me. I thank the Ivorian people. This title is also for you.”
He also acknowledged the role of key figures, including Idriss Diallo, President of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), and his coaching team, particularly assistant coach Guy Demel.
