CAF reschedules 2026 WAFCON to July–August

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially rescheduled the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, shifting the tournament to 25 July – 16 August 2026. The competition had originally been scheduled to take place between 17 March and 3 April 2026, but CAF confirmed the adjustment following consultations with the global governing body FIFA and other stakeholders involved in the organization of the tournament.
According to CAF, the decision was taken due to “certain unforeseen circumstances”, although the governing body did not provide further details regarding the exact reasons behind the scheduling change.

Morocco to host Continental Women’s Showpiece
The 2026 edition of the tournament will still be hosted by Morocco, which secured the hosting rights in October 2024. CAF noted that preparations for the competition are already underway, expressing confidence that the tournament will be successfully organized despite the change in dates.
