Caitlin Clark to sign 8-year, $28 million Nike deal according to reports

Caitlin Clark is far from finished breaking records. Her most recent move will be off the court. The Iowa star who was the first pick in the WNBA draft has agreed to an eight-year, $28 million contract with Nike that includes a signature shoe, according to the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday.

That makes Clark's shoe deal the most lucrative in women's basketball history.

Clark has been with Nike since 2022, when she was starting to gain national attention with the Hawkeyes. Her name, image, and likeness contract expired at the conclusion of the 2023-24 college season.

With the Indiana Fever, Clark chose Nike over an offer from Under Armour that would have paid her more per year but on a shorter term. The Athletic reported that Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, an Under Armour athlete, was brought in to pitch Clark on joining the team.

Adidas (four years, $6 million with a signature shoe) and Puma (which withdrew before making an initial offer) were also under consideration.

Clark, the all-time leading scorer in college basketball history, men's or women's, is expected to be a high-wattage star in the WNBA and has signed endorsement deals with Xfinity, Panini, and Gainbridge since turning pro.
