Carlos Alcaraz admits he is 'far from true level' after Buenos Aires exit

Carlos Alcaraz conceded that he was "quite distant from my actual potential" during his loss to Nicolas Jarry in the semi-finals of the ATP Buenos Aires tournament on Saturday.

The Chilean player caused a surprise upset by defeating the defending champion in straight sets. This loss came as a shock to the Spaniard, who was competing in his first tournament since his quarter-final exit at the Australian Open.

Alcaraz, a two-time Grand Slam champion, had high hopes of reaching the final and securing his first title since Wimbledon last year.

However, he expressed his disappointment after the match, acknowledging that there are areas for improvement and that he is currently far from his best form.

Despite breaking Jarry's service in the second set, Alcaraz was unable to maintain the advantage and ultimately lost the match when Jarry secured a crucial break in the eighth game. Reflecting on the tournament,

Alcaraz admitted that it was a challenging experience, especially considering it was his first time playing on clay in a while. He acknowledged that he missed out on opportunities and struggled in the tie-break.

Jarry, currently ranked 21st in the world, will now face Argentine wildcard Facundo Diaz Acosta, who is ranked 87th, in the final on Sunday.
