Carlos Alcaraz sets up clash against Daniil Medvedev in China Open last four

The second-seeded Alcaraz from Spain overcame a challenging first set to defeat the seventh-seeded Russian, Karen Khachanov, with a score of 7-5, 6-2 in Beijing.
During the first set, while serving at 4-4, Khachanov managed to hold serve after a demanding game in which both players squandered several game points, particularly when Alcaraz sent a forehand long.
However, this proved to be a brief respite for Khachanov.
At 5-5, Alcaraz once again applied pressure on the Russian, and this time the world number three capitalized on the opportunity, breaking serve and subsequently holding his own to take the lead in sets.
Alcaraz, who achieved his 200th tour-level victory on Sunday, secured a break at 3-2 in the second set, leading to a more straightforward win.
On the other hand, the third-seeded Medvedev, who was the runner-up to Jannik Sinner in last year's final, triumphed over unseeded Italian Flavio Cobolli with a score of 6-2, 6-4 in his quarter-final match.
Alcaraz and the 2021 US Open champion Medvedev have faced each other seven times previously, with Alcaraz emerging victorious in five of those encounters, the latest being in the semi-finals at Wimbledon.
Alcaraz subsequently defeated Novak Djokovic in the final to retain his title.
