Celtic 2-1 Rangers: Celtic move eight points clear at the top with Old Firm derby victory

Philippe Clement's unbeaten streak as Rangers manager came to an end in his first Old Firm derby, but his team managed to give Brendan Rodgers' men a scare towards the end.

Rangers still have two games in hand to close the gap at the top of the table against their Glasgow rivals. However, Clement now faces his first major setback since taking over in October.

Paulo Bernardo scored a fantastic goal to put Celtic ahead before halftime, and Furuhashi added another goal against Rangers in the second half.

Despite being down to 10 men after Balogun's red card, Rangers managed to score a stunning free-kick through James Tavernier, reducing the deficit.

Celtic's recent defeats have given Rangers an opportunity to get back into the title race, but Celtic has since regained their form with three consecutive wins.

Bernardo, who scored his first goal for Celtic in a win against Dundee, opened the scoring with a powerful shot from the edge of the box.

Furuhashi, despite a recent goal drought, showed his quality by scoring with his weaker left foot. Tavernier also showcased his skill with a brilliant free-kick goal.

However, Rangers couldn't find an equalizer in the end, leaving them with a challenging task in 2023 to prevent Celtic from winning their 12th title in 13 seasons.
