Celtic thrash Kilmarnock to win 54th Scottish Premiership title in style

Celtic clinched their 54th Scottish league title in impressive fashion by defeating Kilmarnock 5-0 on Wednesday, extending their lead over Rangers to six points with just one match left.

The Hoops secured the victory they needed at Rugby Park, where they had suffered two losses earlier in the season. However, this time around, Adam Idah, Daizen Maeda, and James Forrest scored three goals within the first 35 minutes to put Celtic in a commanding position.

Matt O'Riley added two more goals in the second half to cap off a remarkable season. This latest triumph marks Celtic's 12th title in 13 years, bringing them within one title of Rangers' record of 55 Scottish titles.

Despite facing a tough challenge from Rangers, Celtic managed to turn the tables after trailing by seven points early in the season. The return of key players from injury and Brendan Rodgers' managerial expertise played a crucial role in securing the title.

Rodgers surprised many with his team selection for the Kilmarnock match, opting to start Idah over Kyogo Furuhashi. Idah's early goal, assisted by O'Riley, set the tone for Celtic's dominant performance.

The decision to bring Idah on loan from Norwich in January paid off, as he contributed significantly to Celtic's success in the title race. Maeda and Forrest also played pivotal roles in securing the victory with their well-taken goals.

O'Riley secured all the top awards at Celtic's player-of-the-year ceremony last Sunday, and the Danish player impressively concluded the scoring.

The 23-year-old skillfully struck the ball into the top corner of the net before calmly slotting it into the bottom corner, bringing his total for the season to 18 goals and 18 assists.

O'Riley may only have two more matches left in his Celtic tenure, with interest from clubs like Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan.

However, he could potentially end his time at Celtic with another trophy, as the team aims for a double in the upcoming Scottish Cup final against Old Firm in 10 days.
