PSG rally past Monaco; Vinícius Jr. stuns Benfica in Champions League Playoffs

The knockout playoff first legs delivered chaos, comebacks and controversy across Europe on Tuesday night in the UEFA Champions League.
PSG 3-2 Monaco: Doué Turns the Tide
Reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain had to dig deep to overturn a two-goal deficit against AS Monaco. USMNT striker Folarin Balogun stunned the visitors with goals in the 1st and 18th minutes, putting Monaco firmly in control.
But PSG flipped the script. Substitute Désiré Doué changed everything. Introduced in the 27th minute, he scored two minutes later, then helped set up Achraf Hakimi for the equalizer before netting the winner in the 67th minute.
Monaco’s night unraveled further when Aleksandr Golovin was sent off early in the second half. PSG take a narrow advantage back to Paris but may regret not extending the margin with the extra man.
Real Madrid 1-0 Benfica: Vinícius Jr. Lights It Up
Real Madrid needed a moment of magic, and got it from Vinícius Júnior. The Brazilian star drilled home a stunning strike in the 50th minute to silence SL Benfica and give Madrid a 1-0 first-leg edge.
Tensions flared after the goal, leading to a brief delay. Benfica boss José Mourinho was later sent off and will miss the return leg at the Bernabéu.
Dortmund in Control
Borussia Dortmund wasted no time against Atalanta BC. Serhou Guirassy scored inside three minutes, and Maximilian Beier doubled the lead before halftime in a composed 2-0 win.
Galatasaray 5-2 Juventus: Istanbul erupts
The wildest match of the night belonged to Galatasaray S.K., who crushed Juventus F.C. 5-2. After trailing 2-1 at halftime, with Teun Koopmeiners scoring twice, Galatasaray exploded in the second half.
Noa Lang netted twice, while Davinson Sánchez and Sacha Boey added goals as Juventus collapsed following a red card to Juan Cabal. Despite the loss, USMNT midfielder Weston McKennie continued his strong run of form, assisting Koopmeiners’ second goal.
What’s Next?
Second legs loom next week, with PSG and Real Madrid holding slim advantages, Dortmund in command, and Galatasaray eyeing their first Round of 16 appearance since 2014.
If Tuesday proved anything, it’s that these ties are far from settled.
