Champions PSG run riot in Germany with 7–2 thrashing of Leverkusen

Paris Saint-Germain produced a jaw-dropping attacking display in Germany, dismantling Bayer Leverkusen 7–2 to maintain their perfect Champions League record.

Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele came off the bench to score on his return from injury, while 19-year-old Desire Doué grabbed a superb brace. Willian Pacho, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, and Vitinha were also on target in a one-sided encounter that showcased the full force of the reigning champions.

PSG have now won all three matches in the league phase, scoring 13 goals and sending another strong message to Europe’s elite.

Doué and Kvaratskhelia lead first-half blitz

Leverkusen’s night unraveled quickly. After just seven minutes, Nuno Mendes floated a deep cross that Pacho met at the back post to give PSG the early lead.

The hosts were handed a lifeline midway through the half when Illia Zabarnyi handled in the box, but Alejandro Grimaldo struck the post from the spot.

Moments later, chaos followed. Leverkusen captain Robert Andrich saw red for an elbow on Doué, and minutes after that, Zabarnyi was dismissed for bringing down Christian Kofane, conceding a second penalty in the process. Aleix Garcia converted to make it 1–1.

But parity lasted barely a heartbeat. PSG, reduced to ten but seemingly unbothered, went into overdrive, scoring three times in eight minutes before halftime. Doué netted twice, either side of a thunderous effort from Kvaratskhelia, sending the visitors into the break 4–1 ahead.

Dembele returns with a goal

PSG coach Luis Enrique was full of praise afterward, saying: “We want to win everything again. That’s our mentality.” And his players looked every bit the champions after the interval. Mendes made it five early in the second half before Garcia briefly lifted Leverkusen spirits with a brilliant long-range strike.

Then came the moment many were waiting for. Three minutes after coming on, Dembele marked his return, and his first appearance since winning the Ballon d’Or, by rifling home from a tight angle to make it six. Vitinha added a late seventh to cap a masterclass in attacking football.

Leverkusen coach Kasper Hjulmand summed up the collapse bluntly: “We lost it in seven minutes before halftime. We were level but wanted too much. We met the best team in the world right now.”

PSG back in command of Europe

Injury-hit or not, PSG are flexing their depth and dominance once again. Their mix of experience, flair, and relentlessness mirrors the side that swept to a treble last season, and with Dembele back, they look even more dangerous.

Leverkusen, still integrating six summer signings, simply couldn’t cope. PSG’s win not only extends their perfect European start but reasserts them as the team to beat.
