Charlotte Checkers crush Hartford Wolf Pack 9–0 in Bojangles blowout

The Hartford Wolf Pack arrived in Charlotte hoping to complete a sweep. Instead, they left on the wrong end of a franchise-record defeat. The Charlotte Checkers exploded for nine goals Monday afternoon at Bojangles Coliseum, routing Hartford 9–0 in a game that spiraled quickly out of reach.

Bright Start, Brutal Turn

Hartford opened with energy, firing six of the first seven shots. But Checkers netminder Kirill Gerasimyuk stood tall, shutting the door early. Charlotte seized control midway through the first period. Marek Alscher broke the ice with a long-range strike, and that’s when momentum flipped hard. Brian Pinho doubled the lead just 63 seconds later. Noah Gregor made it 3–0 before the first intermission, and Hartford never recovered.

Second Period Surge

The Checkers kept pouring it on in the second.

Mitchell Vande Sompel added the fourth, Ben Steeves followed 29 seconds later to make it 5–0, and Michael Benning capitalized late in the frame to stretch it to six. By then, the contest was effectively decided.

Tempers Flare, Goals Follow

Frustration boiled over in the third. Trey Fix-Wolansky dropped the gloves after a heavy hit earlier in the game, but with Wilmer Skoog declining the fight, Hartford was handed a five-minute major.

Charlotte wasted no time. Devine struck 11 seconds into the power play, Hunter St. Martin followed soon after, and Steeves capped the scoring to complete the nine-goal avalanche.

One for the Record Books — For the Wrong Reason

The final horn sealed the worst loss by goal differential in Wolf Pack franchise history. For Charlotte, it was a statement performance. For Hartford, it was a long afternoon they’ll want to forget quickly.
