Chelsea Climb to Fourth as Spurs Stage Late Comeback Against Bournemouth

Chelsea boosted their top-four hopes with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Leicester City at Stamford Bridge, while Tottenham Hotspur salvaged a dramatic 2-2 draw against Bournemouth after trailing by two goals on Sunday.
Cucurella’s Thunderbolt Lifts Chelsea Above Man City
Chelsea climbed above Manchester City into fourth place in the Premier League as Marc Cucurella’s stunning strike secured a much-needed win. The Blues now hold a two-point lead over City in the race for a Champions League spot, although Pep Guardiola’s side have games in hand.
Despite dominating possession, Chelsea struggled to break down a resilient Leicester side, who sit six points adrift of safety. The breakthrough finally arrived in the 60th minute when Spanish full-back Cucurella unleashed a powerful drive from 25 yards into the bottom corner.

The victory was only Chelsea’s fourth in their last 12 league games, highlighting the inconsistency that has plagued Enzo Maresca’s team this season. Cole Palmer, Chelsea’s leading scorer, missed a first-half penalty after Jadon Sancho was fouled by Victor Kristiansen. Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen guessed correctly to deny the England forward, extending Palmer’s barren run to seven league games without a goal or assist.
Leicester, under Ruud van Nistelrooy, showed glimpses of resilience but failed to capitalize on their limited opportunities. The Foxes have now lost five consecutive league games, leaving their Premier League survival hopes hanging by a thread.
Spurs Avoid Disaster With Late Comeback Against Bournemouth
Tottenham staged a thrilling second-half fightback to secure a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, easing the pressure on manager Ange Postecoglou.
Still reeling from their 1-0 Europa League defeat to AZ Alkmaar, Spurs found themselves trailing after goals from Dominic Solanke and Evanilson put the visitors in control. Solanke, making his first league appearance since January, tapped in from close range in the first half before Evanilson doubled Bournemouth’s lead with a well-taken finish in the 65th minute.
Postecoglou responded by introducing Son Heung-min at halftime, and the South Korean international played a crucial role in Spurs’ comeback. Just two minutes after Evanilson’s goal, Pape Sarr pulled one back with an audacious cross that deceived Kepa Arrizabalaga and found the net.
The hosts completed their dramatic rescue in the 84th minute when Son was brought down by Kepa, winning a penalty that he calmly converted—ending his 10-game goal drought.
Despite the fightback, Tottenham remain in 13th place, with their Champions League qualification hopes fading fast. They now shift focus to the second leg of their Europa League clash, which presents their best shot at securing silverware this season.
Arsenal and Manchester United Set for Blockbuster Clash
Later on Sunday, all eyes turn to Old Trafford as second-placed Arsenal take on Manchester United. The Gunners will be aiming to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool, who remain 13 points clear at the summit. A win for Mikel Arteta’s side would further cement their status as title contenders, while United will be desperate to boost their own top-four ambitions.
