Chelsea complete permanent Joao Felix signing from Atletico Madrid

Joao Felix, aged 24, has returned to Chelsea following an agreement with Atletico Madrid for his transfer, which amounts to 50 million euros, along with an additional 10 million euros in performance-related bonuses.
The Portuguese international previously spent less than six months on loan at Chelsea from Atletico, during which he netted four goals in 20 appearances.
After his stint in London, he returned to Spain but did not feature for Atletico, who subsequently loaned him to Barcelona, a move he had anticipated.
His tenure with the Blaugrana was marked by inconsistency, resulting in 44 appearances, 10 goals, and six assists, but concluded promptly at the end of his loan period.
The acquisition of Dani Olmo and Barcelona's injury issues rendered Felix's situation untenable, leading to his return to Atletico after a Euro 2024 campaign where he had limited opportunities to showcase his talents.
In Madrid, he participated in pre-season activities and made a positive impression; however, all parties involved agreed that the relationship had not yielded the expected results.
Consequently, the transfer of Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid created an opportunity for Felix, who is now set to join Chelsea's competitive squad in search of a definitive role.
At Stamford Bridge, he will reunite with fellow countrymen Pedro Neto and Renato Veiga.
During his time at Atletico, Felix made a total of 131 appearances, scoring 34 goals and providing 16 assists.
