Chelsea not mature enough to compete consistently, says boss Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino, the 52-year-old manager of Chelsea, expressed his concern about the team's lack of maturity to handle the demanding schedule of playing every three days in the Premier League. This concern arose after their recent 2-2 draw against Sheffield United, who currently sit at the bottom of the league table.
Chelsea, who secured a 4-3 victory over Manchester United in their recent home match, initially took the lead at Bramall Lane through Thiago Silva.
However, their advantage was short-lived as Jayden Bogle equalized for the opposition just before half-time.
Noni Madueke later restored Chelsea's lead in the 66th minute, only for Ollie McBurnie of the Blades to snatch an equalizer during stoppage time.
In addition to their recent draw against Burnley, which ended in a 2-2 stalemate, Chelsea's manager, Pochettino, expressed concern about the toll the packed schedule was taking on his team.
Despite acknowledging their fatigue, Pochettino emphasized that it should not serve as an excuse for failing to secure a victory in the match. As an experienced observer of the game, he quickly identifies whether a team is prepared to compete or not.
Pochettino suggested that the team's relative lack of maturity might be a factor in their inconsistent performances, particularly against lower-ranked opponents like Sheffield, who currently find themselves in the relegation zone. He emphasized the need for the team to think more strategically.
Regarding the substitution of top scorer Cole Palmer in the 74th minute, Pochettino explained that it was a precautionary measure to protect the player and prevent any potential future problems.
Looking ahead, Chelsea, currently in ninth place, will face Everton in their upcoming league match before taking on Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals on April 20th.
