Chelsea Women 3-0 Man Utd Women: Blues seal unbeaten treble with FA Cup final win as Baltimore shines

Chelsea Women crowned their historic 2024/25 domestic campaign with a dominant 3-0 victory over Manchester United Women in the Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley, completing a remarkable unbeaten treble in English women’s football.

The Blues, already Barclays WSL and Women’s League Cup champions, became the first side to finish a 22-game Women’s Super League season unbeaten, and added a sixth FA Cup title to their collection on Sunday.

Sandy Baltimore leads the charge with two Goals and an assist

Star winger Sandy Baltimore delivered a masterclass in her debut season, scoring twice and assisting another to lead Chelsea to glory. The France international converted a first-half penalty and added a superb late strike to seal the win, after providing the free-kick assist for Catarina Macario’s header.

Baltimore’s performance was a timely reminder of her growing influence, especially on the biggest stage. She ended the match as the leader in shots, chances created, and crosses attempted — a truly complete attacking display.

“She wasn’t our biggest summer signing, but she’s become one of the most important,” said manager Sonia Bompastor. “She’s been decisive all season and delivered again today.”

Chelsea clinch historic domestic treble in Bompastor’s debut season

The win marks Chelsea’s first domestic treble since the curtailed 2019/20 season, and the first under new head coach Sonia Bompastor, who joined from Lyon last summer.

“This is the perfect ending to a challenging but incredible season,” Bompastor said. “To win three trophies, go unbeaten in the league, and perform like this at Wembley — it’s a dream.

Despite a nervous opening 10 minutes, Chelsea grew into the game and asserted dominance. The breakthrough came just before halftime when Celin Bizet’s high challenge on Erin Cuthbert earned a penalty. Baltimore confidently dispatched the spot-kick past Phallon Tullis-Joyce to give the Blues a 1-0 lead.

The second half saw Chelsea push harder. A pinpoint Baltimore free-kick found Macario, who made it 2-0 with a towering header. Then, in added time, Baltimore struck again, dispossessing Anna Sandberg before rifling home the third goal to put the match — and the season — beyond doubt.

Manchester United Women fall short but show promise

Man Utd Women, last season’s FA Cup winners, began strongly but failed to convert early possession into goals. Their lack of discipline on set pieces and defensive lapses ultimately cost them.

Manager Marc Skinner acknowledged the gap while remaining hopeful:

“The game turned on set pieces. Chelsea’s quality in delivery and execution showed. But we’ve had a fantastic season. We’ll grow from this — our young squad will learn and return stronger.”

United will now shift focus to preparing for another Champions League campaign, having secured qualification through their league position.

Key Stats:

  • Chelsea Women: FA Cup, WSL, League Cup Champions 2025
  • Sandy Baltimore: 2 goals, 1 assist in the final
  • Chelsea: Unbeaten across all domestic competitions
  • FA Cup Titles: Chelsea’s 6th, most in modern WSL era

Why This Matters:

Chelsea’s 2024/25 season reaffirms their position as the dominant force in English women’s football. Under new leadership and with smart recruitment like Baltimore, they’ve transitioned seamlessly while maintaining elite standards. This treble not only cements their legacy but also sets a high bar for the rest of the WSL.
