Chicago Bears stun Packers in overtime thriller

he Chicago Bears delivered one of the most remarkable comebacks of the NFL season on Saturday night, stunning the Green Bay Packers 22-16 in overtime, while the Philadelphia Eagles secured back-to-back NFC East titles with a hard-fought 29-18 win over the Washington Commanders.

Bears shock Packers in overtime classic

Caleb Williams capped a dramatic night in Chicago by throwing a 46-yard touchdown pass to DJ Moore in overtime, completing a stunning Bears comeback after trailing by 10 points late in the fourth quarter.

The victory not only extended Chicago’s lead atop the NFC North to one and a half games, but also marked a rare triumph in the NFL’s oldest rivalry. Including the playoffs, the Bears had lost 30 of their previous 37 meetings against Green Bay since 2008.

Chicago’s rally began with Cairo Santos drilling a 43-yard field goal with 1:59 remaining to cut the deficit to seven. Forced to attempt an onside kick, the Bears caught a major break when Josh Blackwell recovered the bouncing ball, giving the home side renewed life.

On fourth down with 24 seconds left, Williams beat an all-out blitz and lofted a perfectly placed six-yard touchdown pass to Jahdae Walker in the right corner of the end zone. Head coach Ben Johnson opted for the extra point instead of a two-point attempt, sending the game into overtime.

The Packers’ hopes unraveled early in the extra period. Facing fourth-and-one at the Chicago 36-yard line, backup quarterback Malik Willis fumbled the snap, handing possession back to the Bears. Four plays later, Williams connected with Moore, who hauled in the game-winning touchdown despite tight coverage from Keisean Nixon.

Two weeks earlier, Nixon had sealed a Packers victory by intercepting Williams in the end zone. This time, the roles were reversed, sparking wild celebrations at Soldier Field.

Williams finished with 250 passing yards and two touchdowns, completing 19 of 34 attempts. Moore led the receiving corps with 97 yards, while Chicago extended its home winning streak to six games.

Green Bay’s night was further complicated by the loss of starting quarterback Jordan Love, who exited in the second quarter after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit that resulted in a concussion. Love had been efficient before leaving, completing eight of 13 passes for 77 yards and leading two scoring drives.
