Chiefs' Wharton describes catching falling child as a natural reaction

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton (26) described his instinctive response to catch a child who fell headfirst from the lower level of the stands following a game in North Carolina over the weekend.
A video shared on social media captured Wharton as he lunged forward to catch the child, who had lost his balance and tumbled from the lower tier after the Chiefs secured a 30-27 victory against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Wharton, a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Chiefs, safely lifted the child and returned him to the stands, which are approximately three meters high, as reported by local media.
"I would characterize it as a natural reaction," Wharton stated during an appearance on ESPN's 'The Pat McAfee Show' on Tuesday.
"Typically, when I exit the game, I attempt to toss my gloves into the crowd, and I believe I heard my name being called. When I heard my name, I noticed him coming down.
"I instinctively grabbed him by the back and gently pushed him back into the stands."
Wharton expressed his desire to invite the young fan to a future Chiefs game.
The Chiefs, currently leading the AFC West, are set to face the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday.
