China Open Day 3 Roundup: Swiatek, Gauff, Rybakina advance.

Five of the world's top ten players advanced to the second round of the China Open after Iga Swiatek defeated Sara Sorribes Tormo and Caroline Garcia defeated Kateryna Baindl. Coco Gauff defeated Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, Ons Jabeur defeated American Ashlyn Krueger, and Elena Rybakina cruised past Chinese player Qinwen Zheng.
Iga Swiatek defeated Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-4 6-3 in the first round of the China Open, bouncing back from an early exit in Tokyo last week. Swiatek was kept on her toes throughout what was ultimately a convincing victory.
Sorribes Tormo saved two break points in the third game, but soon broke on serve, only to hit back immediately to tie the first set at 3-3. Breaks of serve became a theme of this match as Swiatek took a 4-3 lead, with the world No. 2 quickly wrapping up the set.
In the second set, both players were allergic to their own serves, with the Spaniard failing to claim a single hold. In fact, only one game was won by serve, which went to Swiatek and was ultimately crucial in securing her place in the next round.
She will now face Varvara Gracheva of France in a second round tie on Tuesday.
Elsewhere, Caroline Garcia defeated Kateryna Baindl 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the second round. Garcia broke through the Ukrainian's serve in the second game, and it was all smooth sailing from there for the Frenchwoman as she raced to the first set.
The first six games of the second round all went to the server. Garcia was broken in the seventh game, but she responded quickly and cracked her opponent again to set up a second-round tie with Yulia Putintseva on Tuesday.
Ons Jabeur also advanced after defeating Ashlyn Krueger in straight sets, 6-3 6-4. The world No. 7 showed her class in the end, but the American made her work hard with some massive games on both sets.
Krueger kept her cool against the Tunisian, swatting away three break point chances in the first five games and claiming an important hold at 3-2 after going to deuce four times. Jabeur was finally able to break through her serve to go 4-3 up, and she did so again after her first set point in the ninth game to move 1-0 ahead.
This year's Wimbledon runner-up would exploit Krueger's service game vulnerability again to move 4-2 ahead in the second set, and she did so again in the tenth game to advance and face Marta Kostyuk in the second round.

Gauff regained her composure and won the first set on her second set point after winning the 12th game.
The second set was much smoother for the 19-year-old, who was able to break through Alexandrova's serve once more to go 4-2 up and eventually win the set 6-3. Gauff will face Croatian Petra Martic in the next round.
Later on in the day, Elena Rybakina defeated Qinwen Zheng 6-1 6-2 in less than an hour.
The world No. 5 broke the 20-year-old twice in the first set, then took a 1-0 lead by winning the seventh game on her second set point.
