China's Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao win first gold of Paris Olympics 2024

China's Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao clinched the inaugural gold medal of the Paris Games in the 10-meter air rifle mixed team event.
Aged only 17 and 16, respectively, they effectively retained the championship for China, following the win by Yang Qian and Yang Haoran in Tokyo three years ago.
The reigning world champions outshone their South Korean rivals, Keum Ji-hyeon and Park Ha-jun, during the qualifying round at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre.
Despite taking a 14-8 lead after the initial 11 shots in the final, Huang and Sheng encountered a strong resurgence from the South Koreans, who closed the gap to 14-12. Nevertheless, the Chinese pair emerged victorious with a 16-12 triumph.

In the battle for the bronze medal, Kazakhstan's Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev secured their nation's first medal of the Paris Games by defeating Germany's Anna Janssen and Maximilian Ulbrich with a commanding 17-5 victory.
