Coco Gauff target Grand Slams and gold medals as she hits her 20s

Coco Gauff, the winner of the US Open, marked her 20th birthday by securing a decisive triumph at Indian Wells yesterday. Gauff emphasizes that her primary focus for the upcoming ten years lies in achieving her on-court objectives.

Coco Gauff expressed her tennis aspirations, aiming to secure more Grand Slam victories and potentially earn a medal at either the upcoming Olympics or the 2028 edition.

She emphasized her focus on tennis at the moment, stating that she has not yet considered life goals beyond the sport.

Gauff also mentioned that she is not currently interested in marriage or having children.

As for her birthday celebration during the tournament, she admitted to struggling to find a gift for herself and mentioned having gifts waiting to be opened in her hotel room.

One possible reason why Gauff finds it challenging to reward herself, as she hinted, is because the things she desires cannot be purchased.

To elaborate, Gauff explains, "The things that I desire are already within my grasp. I am in good health, content, pursuing my passion on tour, and living the life I've always dreamed of."

Gauff, who entered the WTA scene shortly after turning 15 and participated in the main draw at Miami, admits that the fame that accompanies her success, including a recent Vogue cover story, sometimes perplexes her.

She reflects, "I suppose it's the off-court aspects that make me question 'why me.' Winning was always something I envisioned for myself, as it is for every tennis player."

"Particularly, the off-court aspects such as magazine covers and attention from other celebrities or people in general, leave me wondering why I attract such interest."

"Nevertheless, I genuinely appreciate it and it fills me with a sense of love. I hope to reciprocate that feeling and make others feel the same way."
