Como 1907 2-0 AS Roma: Como score two late goals to shock Giallorossi

Alessandro Gabrielloni, serving as a super-sub, made a significant impact by scoring and providing an assist during stoppage time in the second half, leading Como to a crucial 2-0 victory over Roma in Serie A. This win allowed Como to escape the relegation zone and marked the end of a nine-match winless streak.

Roma initiated the match with an early opportunity when Mario Hermoso’s header was deflected out for a corner just five minutes in. From that corner, Alexis Saelemaekers struck a powerful volley that narrowly missed Pepe Reina’s goal.

After weathering that initial threat, Como nearly found the net in the 18th minute when Nico Paz’s free-kick slipped past the diving Mile Svilar but struck the crossbar before going over.

Roma managed to score just before the half-hour mark when Manu Kone capitalized on Saelemaekers’ enticing cross, but the goal was disallowed due to an earlier offside call against Stephan El Shaarawy.

Inspired by Paz’s earlier attempt, Paulo Dybala sought to score from a free-kick, yet the experienced Spanish goalkeeper Reina was quick to deny him.

This season, only Como's next opponents, Inter, have scored more goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half than Cesc Fabregas’ team, who came out strong after the break.

Lucas Da Cunha was the first to challenge Svilar with a curling shot from a corner, followed by Alieu Fadera, whose powerful strike from the edge of the box tested the Serbian goalkeeper.

Former Roma striker Andrea Belotti was unable to find the net against his old team, but his substitute, Patrick Cutrone, forced another excellent save from Svilar shortly after entering the match, redirecting Ignace Van Der Brempt’s cross towards goal.

Claudio Ranieri’s team managed to withstand that period of pressure, and Dybala had a chance to capitalize on Como’s missed opportunities but could only send his close-range shot wide of the goal.

A significant portion of the game's action remained directed towards the Roma goal, and just when it appeared that Svilar would secure a point for Roma, Cutrone's cutback was deftly converted by Gabrielloni in the final moments, igniting chaos both on and off the field.

This marked Roma's fifth loss in six Serie A encounters, as Paz sealed their fate in the closing moments, leaving the Giallorossi with a mere two-point cushion above the relegation zone.
