Conor Gallagher seals Chelsea win in entertaining FA Cup tie with Leeds

Chelsea secured their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals with a narrow 3-2 victory over Leeds United at Stamford Bridge, thanks to Conor Gallagher's last-minute winner.
Following Chelsea's 2022 takeover, scrutiny has arguably reached new heights, especially after their Carabao Cup final loss to Liverpool.
Despite the misleading narrative of Mauricio Pochettino's team being labeled as "blue billion-dollar bottlejobs," it's worth noting that Chelsea's starting and finishing XI were actually younger on average than their Liverpool counterparts.
However, as history often favors the victors, the focus remains on the defeat.
The upcoming FA Cup clash against Leeds, old rivals of Chelsea, presents an opportunity for the Premier League club to quickly recover from their recent setback.
Despite the turbulent atmosphere at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea found themselves trailing to Mateo Joseph's first career goal within 10 minutes due to their vulnerability to high pressing. The risk of a negative environment escalating after Leeds' goal was a real possibility given recent results.
Nevertheless, Pochettino's team has displayed resilience in recent matches, showcasing their fighting spirit by coming from behind to defeat Crystal Palace and securing a draw against Manchester City, the current PL and UEFA Champions League titleholders. This resilience was evident once again in the match against Leeds.
Nicolas Jackson's equalizer and Mykhailo Mudryk's goal turned the game around in Chelsea's favor before the halftime break. Despite a close attempt from Jaydon Anthony, Chelsea maintained their lead going into halftime.
The advantage should have provided a boost for Chelsea in the second half, but it appeared to have the opposite effect, hindering their performance.
Leeds, who are in pursuit of promotion to the Premier League, made five alterations to the team that defeated Championship leaders Leicester City in their previous match. Joseph was among those changes, and he once again scored to equalize, nodding in Anthony's precise cross past Robert Sánchez.
Throughout most of the second half, Leeds dominated the game, but as extra time approached, Chelsea delivered a decisive blow. Pochettino also made changes to his lineup following the Liverpool match, with Gallagher being one of those relegated to the bench.
His teammates' failure to close out the match necessitated his intervention, and he responded effectively by receiving a beautiful pass from Enzo Fernández and slotting it past Meslier.
Chelsea managed to hold on for the victory, and although it may have been tough on the team from Yorkshire, it was a crucial win. Chelsea will now face Leicester City in the quarter-finals, while Leeds will focus on their promotion battle.
