Conor McGregor to make comeback in June against Michael Chandler at UFC 303

Conor McGregor is set to make his comeback to the octagon against Michael Chandler on June 29th, as confirmed by Dana White, the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

This fight will mark McGregor's return three years after sustaining a left leg injury in a bout against Dustin Poirier.

White informed reporters that the UFC 303 card in Las Vegas would be headlined by a welterweight bout.

McGregor, the Irishman with a record of 22-6, has been absent from the octagon since his tibia fracture resulted in a second TKO loss to Poirier in July 2021. As a result of the injury,

McGregor, a former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion, had to undergo surgery.

Chandler, the former Bellator lightweight champion with a record of 23-8, also suffered a defeat in his last fight against Poirier in November 2022.

The UFC has been building anticipation for this fight for over a year, as McGregor and Chandler served as coaches for opposing teams on the MMA-based reality show 'The Ultimate Fighter' last year.

In a video posted on X last December, McGregor announced that he would be facing the same opponent on the same date for his next bout, proclaiming it as the "greatest comeback of all time."
