Conte hails Lukaku as essential to Napoli's hopes after Cagliari win

Napoli's head coach, Antonio Conte, expressed high regard for Romelu Lukaku following his impressive display in the team's recent victory against Cagliari. Conte emphasized that the striker is crucial to the club's aspirations for success this season.
Lukaku, who joined Napoli after Conte, previously the manager of Inter Milan and Chelsea, identified him as a primary target during the transfer window, showcased his abilities in the 4-0 win over Cagliari by scoring one goal and assisting two others, propelling Napoli to the top of the Serie A standings.
"I have consistently stated my desire to have Romelu at Inter Milan and had also sought him at Chelsea prior to his move to Manchester United, as he is an unconventional striker," Conte remarked to Sky Sport Italia.
"He possesses remarkable height and physical strength, yet he is also adept at making quick sprints. Although he has not yet reached peak condition, he is becoming indispensable for our team."
Conte further noted that, despite the favorable outcome, there remains significant potential for Napoli to enhance their performance.
"We began the match positively, but the disruption caused by fireworks and thrown objects hindered our momentum. In the second half, we recognized areas where we could improve," he stated.
"It is essential for us to enhance our dueling capabilities across the pitch, maintaining focus and concentration, as this is vital in Serie A."
Conte rejected the notion that Napoli is prepared to contend for the Scudetto, indicating that he is still in the process of developing the team.
"I believe that currently, all teams are still finding their footing, as the transfer window closed later than usual, and we are all striving to establish our rhythm," Conte explained.
"We have dedicated significant effort over the past two and a half months, and we must remain focused on our own progress without being distracted by others."
