Conte praises Napoli's resilience in 2-1 comeback win over Juventus

Napoli manager Antonio Conte lauded his team’s determined performance in their 2-1 victory over Juventus on Saturday, urging his players and fans to maintain their enthusiasm while staying grounded as they continue their strong Serie A campaign.
Conte’s side overturned a one-goal deficit at home with second-half goals from Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa and Romelu Lukaku, defeating a Juventus team that had been unbeaten in Serie A this season.
With 53 points, Napoli have matched the total they had at this stage during their Scudetto-winning campaign under Luciano Spalletti in 2023. They currently sit atop the Serie A table, six points clear of Inter Milan, who have two games in hand.
"We must never extinguish the enthusiasm because it’s our lifeblood. However, we must stay grounded because what we've done so far is extraordinary," Conte said during his post-match press conference.
Conte highlighted the challenges his team has faced this season, including the departures of key players like Victor Osimhen, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Piotr Zielinski, as well as navigating the transfer market and injuries.
"We have already matched last year's points, and this is without Osimhen, Kvara, and Piotr," Conte noted. "It’s nice to see that, despite the difficulties with the (transfer) market and injuries, nothing changes."
Conte also reflected on the significance of defeating Juventus, who finished third last season while Napoli struggled in 10th place with 53 points:
"Today, though, we beat a great team that had left us far behind last year."
Conte praised his team’s intensity and tactical execution, likening the game to a European-level clash: "The intensity today was like a European match, with very high rhythms and full-field pressure," he explained. "We took some risks, and yet some still say we play with a low defensive line and on the counter-attack. Sometimes it feels like I’m dreaming."
Despite Napoli’s strong form, Conte remains cautious about the transfer market. He emphasized his commitment to working with the players already at his disposal.
"It’s not just about bringing someone in ... Everyone is good at saying who is missing, and I could easily say what we need too," Conte said. "But my role as head of the group forces me to focus on the players I already have and to make a difference with them."
As Napoli stay firmly in the title race, Conte’s focus on resilience, teamwork, and consistency has been instrumental in their success. Fans will be eager to see if this momentum leads them to another Scudetto.
