Copa Del Rey: Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid win to advance to the last 16 of the Spanish Cup, while Real Betis is eliminated.

Real Madrid advanced to the Copa del Rey last 16 with a 3-1 win over Arandina on Saturday, while Atletico Madrid advanced with a 3-1 win away to third-tier Lugo thanks to a second-half double from Memphis Depay and an early goal from Angel Correa.

Arandina did not back down from the challenge of facing the defending champions, who failed to capitalize on first-half opportunities and struggled to get past goalkeeper Adrian Alvarez.

Joselu scored from the penalty spot after a foul on Brahim Diaz in the 54th minute, and the visitors extended their lead a minute later.

Carlo Ancelotti's side has struggled with injuries but put in some solid performances, including Arda Guller's debut after recovering from several injuries sustained during his summer signing.

Real sealed the victory with a stoppage-time strike from Brazilian forward Rodrygo, before Arandina got a consolation goal through an own goal by Nacho.

Atletico also appeared to be in for a smooth game, taking the lead at Lugo after two minutes when Angel Correa slotted home from Javi Galan's left-wing pass.

Lugo then put on a tenacious performance, with Leandro Antonetti capitalizing on their opponents' sloppy defending to equalize in the 39th minute.

Depay, a Dutch international, restored Atletico's lead in the 66th minute after Koke's through ball, before sealing the victory eight minutes later.

Real Betis were knocked out by LaLiga's lowly Alaves 1-0 at a rainy Mendizorroza Stadium, thanks to Carlos Benavidez's goal in the 57th minute.

It was Betis' first regular-season cup defeat since 2019.

Girona advanced with a 2-0 win over Elche, thanks to a first-half goal from Daley Blind off a corner kick by Portu, who then assisted Yan Couto to extend the lead in the second half.

Getafe's Luis Milla scored in the 87th minute to give the visitors a hard-fought 1-0 win over second-tier Espanyol to advance to the round of 16, while Rayo Vayecano needed extra time to beat Huesca 2-0, with goals from Oscar Valentin and Isi Palazon.

The Spanish Cup continues on Sunday, with ten games scheduled, including a match between Barcelona and fourth-tier Barbastro.

On January 17, the round of 16 matches will be played.
