Corbin Burnes to start against Pittsburgh’s Paul Skenes in All-Star Game

Acquired from Milwaukee just before spring training, Burnes is a former NL Cy Young Award winner and is making his fourth consecutive All-Star appearance. He will join a select group of Orioles pitchers who have started an All-Star Game, the first being Steve Stone back in 1980.
On the other hand, Skenes, a 22-year-old rookie, has been impressive since his major league debut on May 11. With a perfect 6-0 record and a stellar 1.90 ERA in 11 starts, he has struck out 89 batters while only walking 13 in 66 1/3 innings. Skenes will be the fifth rookie starter in All-Star history, following the likes of Stenhouse, Fidrych, Valenzuela, and Nomo.
NL manager Torey Lovullo has already confirmed Skenes as the starting pitcher for the game.
Meanwhile, AL manager Bruce Bochy has announced his starting lineup, with Steven Kwan leading off and playing left field, followed by Gunnar Henderson, Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, Yordan Alvarez, José Ramírez, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Adley Rutschman, and Marcus Semien.
Ketel Marte leads off and takes the field at second base for the NL, with Shohei Ohtani, the designated hitter for the Los Angeles Dodgers, batting second. Trea Turner, the shortstop for the Philadelphia Phillies, hits third, followed by Bryce Harper, the first baseman for the Phillies.
William Contreras, the catcher for the Milwaukee Brewers, bats fifth, while Christian Yelich, the right fielder for the Brewers, hits sixth. Alex Bohm, the third baseman for the Phillies, bats seventh, with Teoscar Hernández, the center fielder for the Dodgers, hitting eighth, and Jurickson Profar, the left fielder for the San Diego Padres, batting ninth.
