Cristiano Ronaldo criticizes Rodri's 'undeserved' Ballon d'Or victory over Vinicius Junior

Five-time Ballon d'Or recipient Cristiano Ronaldo (39) expressed on Friday that it was "unfair" for Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior (24) to be overlooked for this year's accolade.
In October, Manchester City midfielder Rodri claimed the esteemed award, with Vinicius finishing in second place.
Rodri played a pivotal role in securing Manchester City's fourth consecutive Premier League title and contributing to Spain's success at Euro 2024, while Vinicius led Real Madrid to a record 15th Champions League title.
The ceremony held in Paris this year was marred by controversy, as Vinicius' team chose to boycott the event.
"In my view, he was deserving of the golden ball. It was unjust, and I state this publicly," remarked former Madrid player Ronaldo during the Global Soccer Awards ceremony.
"They awarded it to Rodri, who also deserved recognition, but I believe it should have gone to Vinicius for winning the Champions League," added the Portugal captain.
Only Argentine legend Lionel Messi, with six victories, has surpassed Ronaldo in Ballon d'Or wins. The award is determined by an international panel of 100 specialized journalists from a shortlist of candidates.
