Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool: Reds come from behind to go top of the Premier League

In the opening 15 minutes, the Reds had the majority of possession, but Palace's strong defense limited their chances. Kostas Tsimikas attempted a speculative shot, and Ryan Gravenberch's strike was blocked by Odsonne Edouard.

Joel Ward showcased Palace's determination early on, making crucial interventions to stop Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross.

As a result, Alisson Becker was the first to be called into action, making a save. Palace launched a rapid attack, with Jordan Ayew delivering a cross that Jefferson Lerma connected with, only to see it saved by Alisson.

Despite having a penalty decision overturned, Palace continued to frustrate Liverpool's attempts, with Chris Richards and Will Hughes blocking shots from Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Both managers made changes at halftime, and Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta won a penalty, which he converted to score his first league goal of the season.

However, the match took a turn when Jordan Ayew received a second yellow card, reducing Palace to ten men. Shortly after, Mohamed Salah scored his 200th goal for Liverpool, equalizing the game.

With Sam Johnstone injured, Remi Matthews, making his club and Premier League debut, had no chance against Harvey Elliott's strike, which secured Liverpool's victory and extended their unbeaten run to nine matches.

The Eagles' recent string of disappointing performances has been exacerbated by their meager tally of only one point in their previous six matches, despite Joachim Andersen's last-minute header being saved.
