Dallas Cowboys defeat New York Giants to snap two-game losing streak

The Dallas Cowboys ended a two-game losing streak with a 20-15 win against their NFC East rivals, the New York Giants, on Thursday, bringing their record to 2-2 early in the NFL season.

The matchup against the Giants proved beneficial for Dak Prescott and the Cowboys, as the quarterback led the team to their 13th consecutive victory over this division opponent.

Prescott completed two touchdown passes, starting with a 15-yard screen pass to running back Rico Dowdle that gave Dallas a 7-3 lead in the first quarter. He later connected with receiver CeeDee Lamb for a 55-yard touchdown in the second quarter, showcasing Lamb's ability to evade two defenders before celebrating with a flex that resulted in a taunting penalty.

Prescott achieved an impressive completion rate, connecting on 22 of 27 passes, while Lamb recorded seven receptions for 98 yards. The Cowboys' defense, which had struggled in recent games by allowing three rushing touchdowns, managed to prevent the Giants from scoring a touchdown throughout the contest.

All of New York's points came from Greg Joseph's five field goals, as the Giants were unable to convert any of their five scoring drives within the Cowboys' 35-yard line.

The Cowboys' defense effectively limited the Giants to just 26 rushing yards on 24 attempts.

Brandon Aubrey contributed two field goals for Dallas, including a notable 60-yarder in the third quarter that extended the lead to 17-12. He also added a 40-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to finalize the score at 20-15, although he missed a 51-yard attempt in the closing minute.

The Giants were afforded a final opportunity with 28 seconds left on the clock; however, Dallas defender Amani Oruwariye intercepted a pass from Giants quarterback Daniel Jones in the closing moments, sealing the game.

Jones successfully completed 29 out of 40 passes, accumulating 281 yards. New York's rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers recorded 12 receptions for 115 yards but left the game with under four minutes remaining, reportedly due to a concussion.

The Cowboys experienced early exits from defensive ends DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons due to injuries.

Lamb indicated that the Cowboys had engaged in a thorough self-assessment following consecutive losses at home.

"It was a discussion that involved everyone," he stated. "Each player had their moment to reflect. The sentiment was palpable throughout the team."

He emphasized that a crucial aspect of reversing their fortunes was to "play with a chip on our shoulder."

"We must avoid becoming complacent regarding our identity and the talent within our roster.

"Clearly, when evaluating our team from top to bottom, we can compete with anyone," Lamb remarked, but he cautioned that the Cowboys must "remain true to our principles, execute the right plays, and embody what we need to be for the desired outcome."
