Dani Olmo thrilled after scoring winner on dream Barcelona debut

Dani Olmo, the 26-year-old attacking midfielder for Barcelona, expressed his immense joy on Tuesday following his dream debut for the esteemed club.

He made a significant impact by coming off the bench to score the decisive goal in a challenging 2-1 comeback victory against Rayo Vallecano.

Having joined Barcelona earlier this summer from RB Leipzig, where he played a pivotal role in Spain's Euro 2024 success, Olmo faced a brief wait of two matches before the club could officially register him due to LaLiga's stringent financial regulations.

Reflecting on his experience, Olmo remarked that the anticipation was worthwhile, as his return to the club where he spent seven years in the youth academy before moving to Dinamo Zagreb at the age of 16 exceeded his expectations.

"I have been eagerly awaiting my debut for quite some time, and it could not have unfolded in a better manner," Olmo stated in an interview with DAZN on Tuesday.

"It has been many years since Barcelona secured a victory here; it is an incredibly challenging venue, making this result truly exceptional.

"I felt very good and was genuinely looking forward to this moment. Today, it finally came to fruition, and I am thrilled to have contributed to the team's success, especially by scoring. I am overjoyed."

Barcelona currently leads the league standings with nine points from three matches, two points ahead of second-placed Villarreal. Their next match is against Real Valladolid on Saturday.
