Daniil Medvedev blasts 'ridiculous' officiating during Monte Carlo win

During his victory over Gael Monfils at the Monte Carlo Masters on Wednesday, Daniil Medvedev, ranked fourth in the world, expressed his frustration with the "absurd" match officials.
Medvedev expressed his frustration towards umpire Mohamed Lahyani after two controversial calls during a game he eventually lost, despite initially leading 30-0.
He criticized the officials during the change of ends, exclaiming, "You guys are getting ridiculous."
Additionally, he was observed hitting the canopy covering his seat while shouting and using profanity towards Lahyani.
The first dispute arose from a deep return by Monfils, which was initially called out by the line judge but later awarded to Monfils by the chair umpire.
On the subsequent point, another deep return by Monfils was deemed good by the line judge, but Medvedev disagreed and, after further review by Lahyani, the shot was ruled out.
Medvedev proceeded to shout at the line judge, prompting Lahyani to intervene and remind him not to direct his anger towards the official.
Despite holding a 40-15 advantage in the game, Medvedev lost his service game and fell behind 3-1 in the second set.
In the third round, Medvedev is set to face his compatriot Karen Khachanov, while the last eight will see either Alexander Zverev or Stefanos Tsitsipas as his potential opponents.
