Daniil Medvedev ready to compete as a neutral athlete at the Olympics

World number four Daniil Medvedev, expressed his enthusiasm for participating in the Paris Olympics. He confirmed his commitment to abide by the regulations as a neutral athlete following the recent announcement by the sport's governing body regarding players from Russia and Belarus.
The ITF announced that athletes from Russia and Belarus could participate in the Paris Games as neutrals, without displaying flags, emblems, or anthems.
Russians and Belarusians were previously prohibited from competing internationally due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, with Belarus serving as a staging ground.
However, in March of last year, the IOC provided a set of guidelines for international sports federations to permit athletes from these nations to resume competition.
Russian player Medvedev expressed his anticipation for the Olympics during his Indian Wells opener, recalling a positive experience in Tokyo three years ago where he reached the quarter-finals in the singles competition.
Medvedev stated to reporters, "If possible, I will be there. I plan to participate in both singles and doubles events. My time in Tokyo was an incredible experience, one of the most memorable moments in my sporting career, surprising me as we often prioritize Grand Slams in tennis."
Regarding the neutral flag, Medvedev affirmed his compliance with the regulations, expressing his intention to compete, showcase his skills, and strive for victory under a neutral flag.
Russian and Belarusian players are already competing as neutrals on the ATP and WTA tours.
The Olympic tennis tournament is scheduled to commence on July 27th.
