Dawid Malan retires from international cricket

Dawid Malan, aged 36 and a former leading batter in T20 internationals, has announced his retirement from international cricket, as confirmed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday.
Malan, who will celebrate his 37th birthday next week, has participated in 30 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 62 Twenty20 internationals (T20Is). His most recent appearance for England was in November during the 50-over World Cup.
Born in Roehampton, the left-handed batsman achieved six centuries in ODIs and one each in Tests and T20Is. He is among the select group of two England men's cricketers, alongside Jos Buttler, to have scored centuries in all three formats of the game.
Reflecting on his career, Malan stated, "It has been an incredible journey since July 2017. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to play for England in all three formats."
He expressed his gratitude to numerous individuals, including the coaches and staff of the various England teams, those who supported him throughout his career, and his teammates over the past seven years.
Rob Key, managing director of England men's cricket, remarked that Malan played a crucial role in the team's T20 World Cup victory in 2022.
"His legacy will be remembered as one of tenacity and achievement on the international stage—qualities that any player would be immensely proud to possess," Key stated.
