De Minaur into first Wimbledon quarter-final after beating rising star Fils

De Minaur dominated the first two sets, but Fils fought back fiercely in an attempt to become the youngest Frenchman in the professional era to reach a Grand Slam quarter-final, extending the match on Court One.
Cheered on by his girlfriend Katie Boulter, the British number one, De Minaur managed to regain control in the fourth set to stop Fils' comeback.
Despite showing signs of discomfort towards the end, De Minaur assured that he will be fine and expressed his happiness for crossing the finish line.
De Minaur admitted feeling a bit ginger due to a hip issue, explaining that he jarred it slightly during a forehand slide on his first match point. However, he emphasized that it was more of a scare than a serious injury and that he expects to feel great after proper recovery.
This marks De Minaur's third Grand Slam quarter-final, following previous losses to Dominic Thiem at the 2020 US Open and Alexander Zverev at the French Open earlier this year.
With no British players remaining in the singles draws, De Minaur humorously claimed the home support as Boulter's partner, jokingly referring to himself as the honorary Brit at Wimbledon.
