Defending Champion Carlos Alcaraz Returns to Wimbledon Final Spot

World number three Alcaraz triumphed over his fifth-ranked opponent 6-7 (1/7), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4, setting up a final showdown against either seven-time champion Novak Djokovic or Lorenzo Musetti on Sunday.

Twice Medvedev led with breaks in the first set, only to be pegged back by Alcaraz. Frustrations boiled over, resulting in Medvedev receiving a warning for unsportsmanlike conduct from umpire Eva Asderaki after a contentious call in the ninth game. Despite this, Medvedev secured the first set in a tie-break, committing only eight unforced errors compared to Alcaraz's 15.

Alcaraz, facing his third first-set loss of the tournament, recovered with a break for a 3-1 lead in the second set after a grueling 27-shot rally. He then dominated the third set with 14 winners, securing the only break in the third game.

Medvedev, who had ousted world number one Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals, managed to retrieve an early break in the fourth set. However, Alcaraz maintained his momentum, breaking again for a 4-3 lead, and ultimately clinching the victory.
