Denver Broncos keep playoff hopes alive with victory over Cleveland Browns

The Denver Broncos extinguished an impressive display by Cleveland quarterback Jameis Winston, securing a 42-31 victory on Monday that keeps their playoff aspirations alive.
Winston delivered a remarkable performance, throwing four touchdown passes and accumulating 497 passing yards in a valiant effort for the Browns, who currently sit at the bottom of the AFC North with a 3-9 record.
However, Winston's outstanding play was overshadowed by two interception returns for touchdowns by Denver, which ultimately proved to be the turning point in the game.
Nik Bonitto recorded the first pick-six for the Broncos in the second quarter, racing 71 yards into the end zone after Winston's pass intended for Jordan Akins went awry.
This touchdown extended Denver's lead to 21-10, allowing them to maintain control of the game.
Winston orchestrated a comeback in the second half, giving the Browns a narrow 32-31 advantage in the fourth quarter with a five-yard touchdown pass to Nick Chubb.
Nevertheless, Denver responded with a 27-yard field goal from Wil Lutz, regaining the lead at 34-32 with just under three minutes remaining, putting pressure on Winston and the Browns to reclaim the advantage.
With 1:48 left on the clock, the Browns' chances of victory diminished when Winston underthrew a pass intended for Elijah Moore, enabling Ja'Quan McMillian to intercept the ball.
McMillian quickly regained his footing and dashed 44 yards into the end zone, delivering a critical blow that put the Broncos ahead by nine points following Lutz's successful extra point.
The game was effectively sealed on the Browns' subsequent possession when Winston was intercepted for the third time, this time by Cody Barton, allowing Denver to run down the clock and secure the victory.
With this win, Denver improved to 8-5, positioning themselves just behind the Los Angeles Chargers (8-4) in the AFC West, which is currently led by the Kansas City Chiefs (11-1).
