Diamondbacks Rally Past Brewers in Wild Card Series Opener

In a thrilling start to their NL Wild Card Series, the Arizona Diamondbacks overcame a 3-0 deficit to secure a 6-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night.
Corbin Carroll, Ketel Marte, and Gabriel Moreno powered the Diamondbacks with home runs in the comeback win.
This win was particularly significant for the Diamondbacks as they made their first playoff appearance since 2017. Despite being down 3-0 early in the game, they showed resilience and determination throughout. The team's 0-14 record in postseason games when trailing by at least three runs is now history.
The comeback began when rookie Corbin Carroll blasted a 444-foot home run into the second deck of the stands in right-center field. Immediately following that, Ketel Marte tied the game with another home run, hitting a cutter over the right-field wall.

In Game 1 of the National League Wildcard Series between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Arizona Diamondbacks, Corbin Carroll of the Diamondbacks smashes a two-run homer in the third inning
Gabriel Moreno's home run in the fourth inning gave the Diamondbacks the lead, and it was his first home run since September 2. Manager Torey Lovullo saw Carroll's homer as a turning point in the game, allowing the team to regain their confidence.
The Diamondbacks protected their 4-3 lead with Evan Longoria's remarkable play in the fifth inning, robbing Tyrone Taylor of a bases-loaded hit and converting it into an inning-ending double play. Christian Walker added two insurance runs with a two-run double in the ninth inning.
The Brewers' Tyrone Taylor contributed to his team's offense with a two-run homer, but the NL Central champion Brewers struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities. They left the bases loaded in the first and third innings and failed to score after loading the bases with nobody out in the fifth.
The Diamondbacks' bullpen, featuring Joe Mantiply, Miguel Castro, Ryne Nelson, Ryan Thompson, Kevin Ginkel, and Paul Sewald, combined for 6 1/3 innings of shutout relief.
The series continues with Game 2 on Wednesday, with the Diamondbacks aiming to advance further. Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly are lined up to pitch for Arizona.
The Diamondbacks' resilience and timely hitting in Game 1 provided an exciting start to their postseason journey as they look to make their mark in the playoffs.
