Djokovic leads Serbia into the Davis Cup Semi-finals

Novak Djokovic exhibited commanding prowess as he led Serbia to a 2-0 advantage in the Davis Cup semi-finals by defeating Britain's Cameron Norrie (28) with a decisive 6-4, 6-4 victory. The world number one, aiming to cap an extraordinary year with another Davis Cup triumph, showcased dominance against Norrie.
In the upcoming clash with Italy, Serbia's path to the semi-finals was paved by Jannik Sinner's (22) instrumental role in orchestrating a comeback win against the Netherlands, securing victories in singles and a crucial doubles match.
Facing the absence of injured players Andy Murray (36) and Dan Evans (33), Britain relied on Jack Draper (21) to win the opening singles against Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic (24) and the formidable doubles partnership of Joe Salisbury (31) and Neal Skupski (33). However, Kecmanovic, ranked 55th globally, delivered an outstanding performance, triumphing over Draper in a fierce 7-6, 7-6 battle.
With Norrie needing to overcome the 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic to keep the tie alive, Djokovic showcased clinical brilliance, securing victory with a single break of serve in the opening set and closing it out with aces in the second set. The win marked Djokovic's 44th for Serbia in the competition, surpassing Nenad Zimonjic, and kept Serbia on course for a potential repeat of their 2010 triumph.
Despite facing the raucous cheers of British fans, Djokovic, who clinched three of the year's Grand Slam titles and the ATP Finals, maintained his composure, concluding the match with an ace flurry. Post-match, Djokovic expressed the emotional significance of playing for his country, breaking the record for the most wins for Serbia in the Davis Cup.
